Miss Maxim India

After months of checking out drool-worthy babes, we finally had to stop enjoying it and come up with a winner. So here she is... Donna from New Delhi, India!

Can you believe this is happening to you? We can’t believe it’s
happening... us talking to you, that is!
I can’t believe it myself but hey, maybe I did deserve it. I am hot!
Sure you are. Was the photoshoot fun?
Yeah, it was a ball. There were the usual problems like powercuts and the Delhi summer but that’s part of the game. And then we were doing this at a construction site. So it was funny scandalising the workers around the place. I guess they couldn’t believe their luck.
Neither can we. Must have been the perks of their job!
(Laughs) I guess I did make them happy. Well, even they deserve some form of entertainment at work.
We agree. Now tell us what you will be doing at the Dominican Republic?
Nothing much really. I’ll just be my sexy self. And have a whale of a time.
So does this mean you will forget us? Will you never talk to us again?
Aww... no, I still love ya all. I am not the type of chick who forgets people or names.
Hmm... let’s test you. Do you remember your first boyfriend?
Of course, I do. He was a sweetheart. But somehow things didn’t quite work out between us.
Any naughty things you remember?
Sure, lots of them. But I am not gonna tell you anything now.
Damn, and we thought you would fall for it?
Well, this one time, we were driving around in his car...
And?
And I can’t tell you more. You gotta leave something to the imagination.
Oh alright, let’s talk about something boring like the weather!
Delhi summer sucks. I like winters. You can go out and party longer, go on long drives with the windows rolled down.
Yeah, but look at the brighter side. You get to wear bikinis in summer.
Hmm... that’s right!
Now that you agree with us, tell us all your naughty secrets!
Sure, just wait till I get back from the Dominican Republic!

"I don't exchange numbers with co-stars." - Kangana Ranaut

There has been a mystery to Kangana Ranaut. She has not bothered to clarify on most controversies surrounding her. Finally, she lets her guard down in an interview.

Why have you often refrained from speaking to the media? Do you have an attitude problem? There's so much to ask you...
I am a lonely person. I don't exchange numbers. I keep to myself. Attitude comes to a person who has fame and money. I have neither (pauses). Okay, shoot. Today, I will talk.

Many Bollywood heroines are game to the surgeon's knife for silicone boobs. Your take on that?
They are also going in for silicone hips, and not to forget, collagen lips. These girls feel that this is the best way to attract men and become a sex symbol. Little do they realise that it has an adverse effect on health. I have heard men talking about big boobs and big ass. I want to ask men. What matters to them- a nice pair of boobs or a girl with a nice nature? I will never get carried away.

You still seeing Aditya Panscholi?
I was never seeing Aditya Panscholi.

You were staying either in his flat with his family, or in a flat given by him?

No. Since two years, I have been staying in a 1-BHK at Yari Road. Few months back, I purchased a 3-BHK on Turner Road in Bandra. I will be shifting there in a month or two. How can I stay in a married man's house?

Does this mean that you stay alone?

I used to stay alone. But now my younger sister from Dehradun has moved in with me.

Did Aditya become very possessive about you at one point? Those police complaints that you hadfiled against each other...
(Interrupts) It is very difficult to make anybody understand. There are some bonds which one can't be given names and explained. He was a genuine friend.

He promoted you in Bollywood?
There was no way that he could promote me.

You are still in touch with him?
No. It ended. But I am sure that we are there for each other if we need any help.

Shiney gave you acting tips in Woh Lamhe and Gangster, and you got pissed off?
No, Shiney did not give me any acting tips.

There was an uncomfortable silence between you and him on the sets?
I told you that I don't mix up with anybody. I don't have not only Shiney's number but also Emraan, Bobby and Upen's. I am game to doing another film with Shiney. If he has a problem with me, I am not aware of it.

You moved out of Vishesh Films?
I haven't moved out per se. After Woh Lamhe, Bhatts made me listen to two or three scripts. I didn't like those scripts. Hence, I signed up with other production houses.

You turned down Pooja Bhatt's Dhokha?
That time, I was committed to Metro and Shakalaka Boom Boom. She wanted the same dates. How could I do it?

And Mahesh Bhatt's Jannat too?

Jannat 's director Kunal Deshmukh had narrated a different script to me. I had loved that script but he hadn't decided on the hero. What he is making now with Esha Deol is a different script. When he makes the first one, I will definitely work with him.

Suneel Darshan told you to come out from the Bhatt camp?
I am a focused person. I wouldn't follow anybody's advice.

That doesn't answer my question, does it?

Suneel told me that I should be working in bigger projects. He felt that Gangster was not a commercial film.

Shakalaka Boom Boom was a mistake?

I wouldn't put it that way. I tried something different. It didn't click, that's another story. If you ask me, the film failed on many levels. Mainly, it went wrong in screenplay.

Are you doing Madhur Bhandarkar's Fashion?
I have signed up with UTV for two films. Madhur is still not ready with the script. But knowing him, I am sure that he'll have a good script. However, I would like to see my role before giving my consent.

A Bollywood actress stalker called Miraj threatened you that you should come for an 'overnight stay' else....?
It wasn't for an 'overnight stay' (laughs). He was threatening my business manager Jai that he will kill him. He said that he has a script and wants me to act in some film.

Your next film?
Samir Karnik's Roshan opposite Bobby Deol.

What you do when you're not shooting?

I go to my dance guruji in Versova. Or I hit the gym, or do meditation and yoga.

Mukesh Bhatt had said that you are a combo of Madhuri and Sridevi?

Every producer has emotions for the newcomer whom he launches. Come on, I know where I stand. I have a long way to go.

Weighty problems for Vidya Balan

After looking at herself in Heyy Babyy, actress Vidya Balan must have finally decided to take herself in hand and do something about her weight. The actress is believed to have been asked to shed something to the tune of 15 kilos for her next film with Aziz Mirza.

Vidya has been asked to lose at least 15 kilos before she starts shooting for this film. Although the film is a love story between a young man and an older woman, the actress is definitely expected to look better than what she looked in Heyy Babyy.

It is believed that Vidya has already started working out so that she can be in perfect shape for the role. Shahid Kapur, who will be cast opposite her, does look younger than her, but the director certainly does not want her to look like his mother. There is no denying that the actress is very pretty to look at and has a beautiful face but she definitely needs to keep herself in shape as most of the actresses do.

Salman to Surrender, Leaves for Jodhpur

Actor Salman Khan will surrender on Saturday before a Jodhpur court after a non-bailable warrant was issued against him following the dismissal of his appeal against a five-year jail term given to him for poaching the endangered chinkara.

"He will be flying to Jodhpur and surrender before a court there," his lawyer Dipesh Mehta told PTI in Mumbai. Salman left for Jodhpur on a flight from Mumbai at 11.30 am.

Speaking to reporters before getting into his SUV outside his residence, Salman said, "A warrant has been apparently issued and as per advice from my lawyers, I am going to Jodhpur to surrender."

"Nobody has told me to get there but I am going there as a responsible citizen who abides by the law," he added. A sessions court in Jodhpur yesterday upheld a lower court's judgement of April 2006 sentencing Salman to prison in the 1998 poaching case.

The court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, which had convicted Salman last year, issued the non-bailable warrant against him yesterday afternoon and sent it to police for execution. The actor evaded immediate arrest as he did not appear in the sessions court, with his lawyer saying there was no directive for his appearance.

A team from the Jodhpur police will be reportedly leaving for executing the warrant today. "We have informed authorities in Jodhpur about the surrender," Mehta said.

The Jet Airways flight on which Salman Khan is travelling, is expected to reach Jodhpur at around 1.30 pm. Clad in a white T-shirt, cargo pants and sporting sunglasses, Salman was seen hugging his close relatives before leaving his home.

His brothers Sohail and Arbaaz were seen at the residence in Bandra's Galaxy Apartments and so was sister-in-law Malaika Arora [Images] Khan, an ex-video jockey. It was not immediately clear as to who would be accompanying Salman to Jodhpur.

Following the verdict, Salman's lawyers had said that they would be filing a revision petition in the Rajasthan High Court seeking suspension of the five year sentence and hearing of his case on priority.

"Though the high court is shut, I would make efforts for the revision petition to be filed at the court registrar's office on Saturday itself so that relief is granted to Salman as soon as possible," Mehta said.

The star was convicted for poaching a chinkara in 1998 during the shooting of the film Hum Saath Saath Hain.

He was also given a one-year jail term in a separate poaching case in Jodhpur and has appealed against that sentence. In his judgement yesterday, District and Sessions Judge V R Singhvi said no court could avoid the circumstantial evidence available on record against Salman.

Bollywood actor Dutt freed on bail in India

MUMBAI - Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt, jailed for six years for receiving guns from gangsters involved in the country’s worst bombings, was released from prison on bail in western India early on Thursday.

sanDutt, sporting a beard and a shaved head, walked free following 24 days in jail and after being granted bail by the Supreme Court on Monday while his lawyers challenge the conviction.

“I just want to thank all my fans who supported me, and all those who stood for three days outside the jail and I couldn’t meet,” Dutt told reporters at his residence.

“I have a long battle to fight. Please pray for me and thank you.”

The macho actor began serving his six-year sentence on July 31 -- less the 16 months he served while awaiting trial over the bomb attacks that killed 257 people in India’s commercial capital of Mumbai in 1993.

Dutt, 48, stepped out of the jail in Pune city and shook the hands of police officers before leaving for home.

Dressed in a white, striped shirt, he was received by a few friends and lawyers, flown to Mumbai in a private jet and then driven to his house in a black limousine.

“I knew he would walk out free. I’m so happy,” Trishala Dutt, the actor’s daughter and a US resident, told local television by telephone. “I can’t believe it’s happening.”

The actor, who earned fame playing anti-hero and gangster roles, was welcomed by family and friends, some of whom had arrived from overseas. A coconut was broken at the doorstep as an auspicious ritual and part of an emotional reception.

His sister Priya, a lawmaker in India’s lower house of parliament, hugged him as he arrived home. Dozens of fans scrambled for a glimpse of the actor outside his home in a swish Mumbai neighbourhood.

His family plans a special thanksgiving prayer to be performed by Hindu priests.

“I will abide by the court,” Dutt said, adding that he had full faith in the judiciary. “

Jubilant Bollywood

But the respite for Dutt could be temporary.

san1His lawyers had petitioned the country’s top court against his conviction and sought bail until that appeal was ruled on.

They said they could not argue the case as they were yet to get a copy of the judgment of the Mumbai court that sentenced Dutt. The court agreed to release the actor until the lawyers get a copy of the verdict.

Court officials said Dutt could be served a copy in a month’s time, after which he might have to go back to jail.

Dutt’s temporary release was welcomed by Bollywood, which has stood solidly behind a man they think was impulsive but had suffered enough for his indiscretions.

“The last 14 years of uncertainty and anxiety and the jail terms in between have been enough punishment for him,” said Ravi Chopra, a top Bollywood producer. “The court can now be lenient.”

Dutt has about $12 million riding on him -- a substantial amount by Bollywood standards -- in three films under production.

“We can think about him working later. What’s important now is for him to spend time with his family,” his lawyer Satish Maneshinde told Reuters.

Dutt’s lawyers have argued that his conviction by a special anti-terrorism court in Mumbai was based on a confession that he had later retracted.

“A retracted confession is a weak piece of evidence,” the petition said, arguing that the conviction should also be overturned because no arms or ammunition were ever recovered from Dutt or his home.

It urged the court to award him some form of punishment other than jail.

Dutt was among the last of 100 people convicted in the blast case.

Is Preity Zinta getting married?

The latest gossip doing the rounds is that Bollywood actress Preity Zinta is set to tie the knot with Ness Wadia, the great grandson of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan.

The award winning Indian actress started dating Ness, son of Bombay Dyeing owners Nusli and Maureen Wadia, in February 2005, reports the Daily Times.

The couple’s relationship went through a bad patch earlier this year after singer Suchitra Krishnamurthy blamed Preity for her divorce with Shekhar Kapur.

Krishnamurthy alleged that the actress was having an affair with her director husband.

The news of the wedding has come after several reports of cold vibes between Zinta and Wadia's mother Maureen had been circulated by the media.

Buddha Mar Gaya - Movie Review

Starring : Anupam Kher, Om Puri, Paresh Rawal, Mahbanoo Mody-Kortwal, Rakhi Sawant
Directed by Rahul Rawail
Rating: None

Whose laash is it anyway? Decades ago Kundan Shah killed us with laughter in a comedy about a corpse that needed curious manoevering.

To his corny credit, Anupam Kher plays an inert deathly-still corpse in Rawail's feel-crude film as convincingly as Satish Shah did in Kundan Shah's film.

But the catchline 'You'll Die Laughing' is not really applicable in Buddha Mar Gaya…. one just dies of shock and shame watching the director of such modern classics as Arjun and Dacait plunge to unimaginable heights of infantile crudity.

The ensemble cast of this pitch-black comedy is devoid of all motivation except a searing self-serving greed. Every member of this multi-millionaire malfunctional family scoffs at all moral values and sniggers at finer sentiments.

In a sense Rawail's family's complete lack of innocence is in direct and devilish contrast to the family Sooraj Barjatya gave us in Hum Aapke Hain Koun and Hum Saath Hain.

Cunning, wicked, evil and vulgar, the family in Rahul Rawail's films spoofs the aesthetics of the archetypal Family Drama with a lingering appetite for red-hot crudity. It's hard for us to share their enthusiasm for the low life, specially when the dead man's grand -daughter performs an item song in front the corpse-pretending-to-be-alive.

The opera of the grotesque opens with the death of a tycoon (Kher) who dies while making love to the indefatigably saucy Rakhi Sawant. She eventually seduces and kills several other men from Vinay ( Bheja Fry) Pathak to Prem ('Mera Naam Hai Prem') Chopra.

What are all these talented actors doing in this over-heated over-cooked comedy of a disintegrated generation?

"What a glorious death. He came and went simulatenously, " says the dead man's grandson who finally turns out to be the dead man's son sired by the (now-dead) old man in lieu of his gay son (Mukesh Tiwari), secretly having an affair with the family godman (Om Puri) who's also doing it to the dead man's plump sister (Mohbanoo Mody-Kotwal, coming a long way off from her extraordinary 'Mrs Nair' act in Black).

By the time the cacophonic bump-and-grind satire creaks to a halt, you are looking at a film that makes a fashion statement out of anarchic iconoclasm.

By simply disregarding and rubbishing social institutions like the family nucleus and the rituals of death and mortality (Ranveer Shorey plays a cremation-ground broker who sells bodies to the 'needy') Buddha Mar Gaya attempts to give a tantalizing twist to the school of stripped-down satire.

But sorry, it isn't comic or cool to cut up the patriarch into pieces, literally.

This could be elected the one 'comedy' that tells you how not make a supposedly funny film. First of all, please don't convert the joint family into a circus of circumstantial irreverence…not if irreverence means anything from alternate sexuality to incestuous intentions.
