Shahid Kapur and Kareena Kapoor's story is known to all by now. The latest buzz is that Kareena dumped Shahid because of her career, which she gives top priority.
Kareena is still Bollywood's hot and sexy actress. Yet, when paired with her real-life boyfriend on screen, she has done very poorly.
A close Bollywood source says: "Kareena and Shahid were very much in love for the past couple of years but they were a flop on screen. "China Town ", "Fida" and "Chup Chup Ke" went down without a whimper. Then Shahid hit the jackpot with "Vivaah"."
The source adds: "Kareena realized that together they are a flop, and hence, started searching for someone else. Finally, it seems she has settled for Saif Ali Khan. Nowadays, Saif and Kareena are often seen together and they are very comfortable with each other."
Shahid was in Toronto for some time for a shoot but he returned to Mumbai on October 1.
Since then, he hasn't met his friends and has kept a low profile. The source reveals that the chocolate boy-actor is very upset with his break off, while Kareena is calm and composed.
Shahid and Kareena came face to face yesterday for the shooting of the remaining portions of "Jab We Met".
The source says: "Both were good and there were no cold vibes. Shahid did not express that he was affected with the break-off. But he left as soon as he was done with his part of the shoot. The two did not even exchange pleasantries."
But is Kareena safe with Saif? The latter's love life doesn't portray him as a steady partner at all. He married Amrita Singh, who was 10 years elder to him; they have a son, Ibrahim, and a daughter, Sara. When "Hum Tum" sent Saif's career rocketing, he left Amrita and fell for Roza.
When Roza parted ways, Saif was seen a lot with Bipasha. There were rumours that something was on between Saif and Yana Gupta.
And now, finally, Kareena's in his life. Hope the two know where they are going from here, both in their personal and professional lives. -Anju Gupta

Aneek really loves Sumedha?
Love is in the air for Aneek Dhar, one of the final four contestants of Zee's 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2007'. And he goes blue in the face denying it.
This young singer has been in the news for all the wrong reasons. It all started with Aneek's candid confession of love for Dia Mirza, when she made an appearance as a guest on the show. Dia herself was quite flabbergasted, but handled it well.
Then he went on record about a 'secret crush on a certain someone'. He calls her his mysterious 'woh'. And the producers leave us with no doubt over her identity, giving us numerous shots of a rather annoyed Sumedha, from Bappi Lahiri's gharana.
Added to that is his guru, Himesh Reshammiya's blessings. Aneek laughs, "It is true Himeshji is trying to make me a groom for Bappiji's gharana, but I have no such intention right now."
There is also the possibility of a third person involved. If rumours are to be believed, then Amanat Ali is the thorn in Aneek's side. Interestingly, Aneek claims that Amanat is his best friend on the show – "I love him very much, and he is my best friend." Aneek has also said that his vote goes to Amanat.
We are waiting.
I am not seeing Mauli Dave: Aditya Narayan
He came, he spoke, and he conquered, against all odds. Aditya Narayan has become a favourite with the audience of 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2007', and he has hung on, despite all criticism. We ask him how it feels, now that the show is coming to an end.
Q. What was it like, growing up as a famous singer's son?
A. It was great. Both my parents are singers, and my understanding of music began when I was a year old. I ate music, I slept music, and I am proud of that.
Q. 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa' is a very successful show, and this is your first time as an anchor. How do you feel about it?
A. I had to fit into Shaan's shoes, and that was a challenge. There were a lot of expectations. I worked hard, so that nobody got a chance to complain. Before hosting the show, I knew that I would not become an extraordinary anchor, but I also knew that I could be good.
Q. Was it your own decision to become a singer? Or did your parents want you to become one?
A. I was never forced into singing. It came to me naturally. Singing is in my genes.
Q. You have a diploma in contemporary English music. You seem to have more on your mind?
A. Yes, I do. You just wait and watch.
Q. Have you noticed any changes in yourself since you began anchoring this show? Do you still get nervous?
A. I was never nervous. I think hosting is my biggest strength. I used to fumble and forget lines earlier, but I have become very confident now.
Q. What do you think contributes to the success of the show?
A. There is more than one reason. Each and every person involved in the show has given it their best – from the director to the producer, to each member of the unit.
Q. What is your equation with the judges and the contestants?
A. Great. They have been a constant source of encouragement for me, and I would really like to thank everyone related to the show – they were with me every time I needed them.
Q. You have received proposals, and contestants have even kissed you. Are you considering any?
A. No, no, no! It is my work that gets the appreciation and love, not me.
Q. You have worked hard to maintain a certain look on the show as well. Any inspiration?
A. I am inspired by hard work. I work out, I eat healthy, and I even go for facials, manicures and pedicures. I am a complete foodie, but every time I overeat, I work out extra. Looking good has become part of my lifestyle.
Q. How have your friends reacted to the new you? Do you give them tips?
A. My friends are with me whenever I have some free time. They are all aware of my style funda. I experiment a lot with my clothes, from suits to jeans, etc.
Q. Your father is a judge on 'Indian Idol 3' and you host a similar show on a rival channel. Do you discuss things related to the two shows, when you are at home?
A. I know my show is the best, although I do not say this to him. Jokes apart, we discuss the shows at home, in detail.
Q. Who is your favourite contestant, and who do you think should win the show?
A. All of them are fantastic. The person who deserves to win, will be the winner.Q. After this show, will we see you as a singer or as an actor? Or do you want to be successful at both?
A. I wanted to be a wrestler, but things did not work out. Now I want to be not only a successful singer, musician and actor, but anything that is related to the entertainment industry.
Q. You had played Salman Khan's son in a movie. What was it like, sharing the stage with him as a host?
A. He was very surprised to see me, as I am now all grown up. We relived some moments of those days.
Q. Your best friend, Mauli Dave, is out of the show. Are you still in touch with her?
A. I am, since she is in Mumbai, and plans to be here for some time. I never understood why all those rumours floated around.
Q. Any messages for your fans? Especially your female fans?
A. I would want to thank everyone for all the love and support that they have given me. They have accepted me as I am, and for that, I am really thankful.

All the actors are just like Dogs: Pooja Bhatt
Out of the three movies that Pooja Bhatt had directed, two were unsuccessful at the box-office. But that hasn't disheartened the actress one bit. As of now, she is excited about her forthcoming movie Dhoka, that has terrorism as its theme. She talks about the film's storyline, her liking for comedy and how she deals with her actors.
Q: What inspired you to make a movie on terrorism?
A: Mr Bhatt was telling me about how custodial deaths often turn common people into vengeful terrorists. He told me about this police officer whose wife died in a bomb blast.
I was shocked when I was told that the wife was a suicide bomber. The ones who fall victim to a tragedy are the ones who give birth to it. This interested me and I thought of making a film on the subject.
Q: What preparation did you do for this movie?
A: I visited some of the places where suicide bombers had struck terror. A lot of people, including some reporters, helped me in this work. I had the notion that it was Pakistani Muslims who are involved in Jihad.
But my perception changed as soon as I found out that Hindus are equally involved in the crime in our country. I thought this cop Mr Bhatt told me about is my hero, who gets punished for crimes that others commit.
Q: Tell us more about the movie.
A: The protagonist of Dhoka is Zaid Ahmed Khan, played by Muzamil Ibrahim, who is an honest and principled police officer. He leads a happy life with wife Sara, played by Tulip Joshi, till one day when Sara is killed in a bomb blast.
Zaid is very depressed but when investigations reveal that Sara was not the victim but the culprit he is shocked. Zaid is suspended from work, despite his pleas of innocence. He offers to help in the investigations even after being suspended as he is eager to know what made his wife commit the crime.
Q: Don't you feel that Muzamil is too young to play the character?
A: We wanted Irfan Khan to play this character but then today's young audience can associate with Muzamil better. If the youngsters don't relate to the theme there is no use making the movie.
Q: How was the casting done for the movie?
A: During the music release party of film Holiday, Muzamil had come on someone else's pass. I asked him what he was doing there when he was not invited. He said he had come to meet me. Later, while returning home from the event I thought of the slim guy.
So after finalizing the story of Dhoka, I selected him. There was not much of a problem because he hails from Kashmir and understands the problem of terrorism. The two heroines Tulip and Ashima were selected via auditions. Q: This subject is quite controversial, so what special care did you take so that you don't offend the sensibilities of the audience?
A: I just know that if you make a movie with a clear heart and soul, and in good spirits, then you need not worry about anything.
Q: You have been an actor, so how do you deal with your actors as a director?
A: I am strict with my actors, because I know there is no difference between actors and dogs. I say so because I have been an actor.
Q: What is your source of inspiration?
A: My mother, she alone looked after my upbringing and inculcated values and morals in me.
Q: Will you ever act in your own direction?
A: For me, acting is equivalent to a holiday trip. But I would never want to act in my own films.
Q: What is your husband's reaction when you direct him?
A: On the sets, we are not husband and wife. We are professionals. He is aware of my direction and he has no ego problem as such.
Q: You were about to cast Mallika Sherawat in one of your movies. What happened?
A: Yes, it true that we are going to make a movie titled Cabaret. But the actress has not been finalized yet.
Q: Being a multi-tasker, what else do you plan to do in the future?
A: I am very happy with the work I have done so far, I just want to be known as a film-maker or a producer or director.
Q: Have you ever thought of making a comedy flick?
A: I love comedy films a lot. As an actor, the two movies I enjoyed doing the most were Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahi and Prem Diwane. I think sobbing, shouting and screeching are not that difficult to enact. The most difficult thing is to make the audience laugh with your good timing.
There are a lot of comedians in the industry but if I make a comedy, I will take Anupam Kher or Paresh Rawal for the lead role. These guys are not scared of portraying themselves as funny.
Q: Which is your next movie as a director?
A: The name of my next movie is Mushkil. It is a story of a small-town guy who comes to a big city with dreams in his eyes. The cast has not being finalized as yet. I just want to say that we are looking for new faces to act in this venture. So come for the auditions and you might be the one to act in this movie. -Rajnee Gupta
