Abbas-Mustan is probably one of the best director duos in the Indian film industry and like some other directors have their own specialization – thrillers. In Naqaab, they are back doing what they do best. This will be their second release after Race and this time round, they have brought back hit Humraaz jodi Akshaye Khanna and Bobby Deol. Debuting in the film is Urvashi Sharma, a model who has also done some music videos.

Being marketed as the most shocking thriller of the year, Naqaab revolves around a middle-class girl Sophie (Urvashi Sharma). Sophie is engaged to a millionaire Karan Khanna (Bobby Deol). Vicky Malhotra (Akshaye Khanna), a struggling actor, is very ambitious and will do anything to reach his goals. He catches Sophie's attention and her relationship with him leads to problems with Karan. The story then goes into the flashback mode where the past of the three characters clearly shows the links to the future.

The promos have managed to create enough curiosity around the film. Besides the promos, the music of the film is also causing a buzz on the popularity charts. This marks the first time Pritam teamed up with Abbas-Mustan.

No film shooting is complete without anecdotes during production. While shooting for Naqaab, Akshaye Khanna found a way to keep himself entertained on the sets. During breaks, he would goad people into playing chess with him and beat them hollow with his carefully planned strategies. For the first time, Akshaye will do the salsa with Urvashi on-screen and choreographer Raju Khan is all praises for the actor’s dancing skills.

While Naqaab awaits release, here’s some interesting trivia surrounding the names of the characters played by Bobby and Akshaye in the film. In Humraaz, Akshaye's name was Karan Malhotra. While he retains the surname Malhotra in this film, the name Karan was given to Bobby. Akshaye has borrowed Shah Rukh Khan’s name in Baazigar. Shah Rukh had adopted the name Vicky Malhotra in the film to achieve his goal. Karan was the name of the inspector who investigated Shilpa Shetty’s murder. Vicky was also Bobby's name in Soldier, one of the biggest hits of his career. Looks like these names are good luck charms for the director duo. Whether they will work their magic this time round remains to be seen.
